BLOCKED BABY BLOCKED!!

Well many of you out there in MSN Land may have noticed that your Hotmail Inbox has been getting pretty hefty as of late. There is sooo much junk and bogus messages to delete these days. Sheesh! It can take hours to clean up my Inbox.

So, let's go over the basics ONE MORE TIME:

Block an Email Address in Windows Live Hotmail

To add a sender to your Windows Live Hotmail blocked senders list:

  • Select Options | More Options... (or just Options if no menu comes up) from the Windows Live Hotmail toolbar.
  • Follow the Safe and blocked senders link under Junk e-mail.
  • Now click Blocked senders.
  • Type the undesired email address under Blocked e-mail address or domain:.
    • You can block all addresses at a domain — the domain being what comes after the '@' sign in an email address — by entering just that.
  • Click Add to list >>.

Block a Sender by Email Address in MSN Hotmail

To block mail from an email address in Hotmail:

  • Select Options from the main Hotmail navigation bar.

  • Click Block Senders.
  • Now type the address you want to block in the single entry field on the left.
  • Click Add >>.

    • Highlight a message from the sender whose emails you want to filter.
    • Select Message | Create Rule From Message... from the menu.
    • Verify that Windows Mail or Outlook Express extracted the right email address to filter on.
      • It should show up as Where the From line contains __ under Rule Description.
      • To change the email address, click on it.
  • Select Move it to the specified folder under Select the Actions for your rule.
  • Click on specified in the rule description.
  • Select the folder you want messages from the specified sender to be filtered to.

    STOP! STOP! PLEASE?

    Subject: From Mr Curtis Elroy
    Sent: March 20 1:17 PM
    From Mr. Curtis Elroy
    Auditing & accounting department
    of Banque Internationale pour L'afrique,
    Lome-Togo.

    Dear Friend,

With great pleasure I am writing this proposal to you and I apologize for any inconvenience it might cause you. However, your email contact was secured through my search in the internet for a reliable and capable hand to handle a transaction of this magnitude and I became aware of your credibility and integrity. Due to the sensitivity of this transaction and my commitment as a banker, I urge for your consent in this great opportunity.

I am Mr. Curtis Elroy; the head of auditing and accounting section of Banque Internationale pour L'afrique Lome-Togo. We had a foreign customer, physician by profession and an owner of a Cadbury manufacturing company here in Lome Togo. eventually, he died on 26th December 2004 in tsunami that happened in Sumatra island Indonesia while on a vacation, he had deposited a huge sum of $19.5m (nineteen million five hundred thousand usd) which no other person knows about because this is a situation I have monitored closely with my position in the bank and having monitored this deposit and yet nobody has showed up as the next of kin since after his death, I have removed his file to my private vault. The request of a foreigner as the next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner. This is why I have contacted you to render assistance in repatriating the money and properties left behind by this man before they will be confiscated or declared unserviceable by this bank. With my position in the bank, I am in possession of every information our bank here will need to transfer this fund to you which shows the entire transaction between the deceased and our bank here in relation to this fund deposit.

I want this money to be transferred into a safe account abroad after which we will share the proceeds but I don't know any foreigner, I am only contacting you as a foreigner because this money can not be approved to a local person here in my country (Togolaise). my constraint is to be able to source a foreign partner who is honest and trustworthy, that will act as a trustee and willing to assist me in this transaction morally and financially and your share as compensation will be (40%) while (60%) is for me. this transaction is 100% risk free provided you treat it with utmost secrecy and confidentiality as it requires. i guarantee you that the entire transaction will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law both in your country. My intention of writing you through email is because I believe it is very confidential and personal. Hoping that you will understand and assist effectively for the success of this transaction and looking forward to hearing from you. Though this approach appears desperate but I can assure you that whatever questions you would need to ask or any other details you will need to know regarding this proposal will be adequately answered to give you on a clearer understanding of it so as to arrive at a successful conclusion.

Please contact me via email: curtis.elroy@googlemail.com

    Best regards,
    Mr. Curtis Elroy

    MONTEREY COAST

It has been several years since we last went down to the Monterey area to visit all of the sea critters at the aquarium. If you haven't been there and you live in Northern California, you really owe it to yourself to pay a visit. And if you are planning a trip out to central or northern California anytime soon, you should try to stop in Carmel / Monterey for a day or so and go see the aquarium. They have a beautiful facility, and you can get up close and personal with lots of different forms of underwater life.

It's not exactly cheap, Adults are $29.95 and Children 3-12 are $17.95. You can get different types of Membership Rates, but I didn't really think it was worth it-considering how often you'd have to visit in a year to make it work out to be more of a bargain.
Okay, first of all it is built inside an old sardine cannery that was part of old Monterey. The fish and sea mammals on display are all from the local area. Instead of like many aquariums that display fish from all over the world, the Monterey Aquarium attempts to recreate the environment for local species.

They also now have a deepwater or Outer Bay Tank that displays the fish found further from shore. Here you will find barracuda, tuna fish, bonita and sea turtles. With this tank you walk up to solid glass and can look down as well as up to see everything! Pretty awesome really!

There are many other things to see in the area: Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, Great Tide Pools, Marina State Beach, and of course the River Road Wine Trail.

Then, we JUST had to stop in Santa Cruz on the drive back. Lot's to check out here, too. They are many older, kinda quirky houses here. And I went wild shooting pix.
There's more photos to see in my Monterey Photo Album.

    DIGITAL VIDEO LIGHTING-BASICS

    Limit Your Light Sources

Your eyes and brain can quickly adapt to mixed lighting situations -- such as tungsten, daylight, and fluorescent -- but your camcorder has a much more difficult time. fluorescent lights often cause a greenish cast, while tungsten makes things orangish; even good ol' daylight can color your scene blue if you're in the shade or next to an open window.

How the heck do you deal with all of that?

The best solution is to try to limit your light sources, and then use your camcorder's white balance setting adjust for the dominate light source. So if you're indoors with lots of light streaming in the windows and bright fluorescents overhead, then either turn off the fluorescents and balance for the daylight, or pull down the window shades and adjust for the overhead lighting.

Once you start thinking about mixed lighting sources, you can take steps to avoid those situations. When you can't, try to limit the different types of illumination and adjust your white balance accordingly.

    Shade Your Lens

Nothing will deteriorate image quality faster than sunlight shining directly on to the front of your lens. To give you a comparable example, you know how it feels when you walk out of a darkened movie theater into direct sunlight? Everything looks sort of washed out and icky. That can happen to your camcorder too, if you don't take steps to protect its "eyes."

The best bet for preventing lens flare is a custom lens hood designed by your camera manufacturer. If your camcorder doesn't accept a lens hood, then you can use your hand to block the harmful rays of the sun. But that can be awkward if you're taping without a tripod.

If your camcorder doesn't accept a custom lens hood, consider using a flare buster, as displayed here mounted on an UltraPod. In use, the flexible arm attaches to your camcorder's accessory shoe.
